What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic medicine is a comprehensive health care system that blends scientific knowledge with traditional and natural forms of medicine.

Based on a philosophy that embraces the healing power of nature, naturopathic medicine supports the body’s innate healing wisdom while addressing underlying causes of disease. Symptoms of disease are an indication that the body is out of balance and naturopathic medicine focuses on treating and healing the entire person, not just the symptoms.

Iceberg Theory

There are numerous factors that impede the body’s ability to regulate and repair, ultimately leading to the development of disease. As these underlying causes are identified, we can start to peel away the layers of imbalance, allowing the body to heal.

The Iceberg Diagram is useful in understanding the types of underlying causes that contribute to symptoms of disease.
